The layout contains many of the features associated with Pete Dye Designs, including railway sleepers in and around the bunkers. There are hills, hollows, large angular mounds and many other hazards to cope with. No less than 12 holes feature water. The final three holes hold as spectacular a finish as any course in the world, particularly when played as the sun sets over the Andaman Sea.

The extremely tough 17th (nicknamed The Lady) is a par-3 that plays diagonally across an inlet bay. An accurate shot must be sent out into the crosswind coming from the sea and find the peninsula green, which is almost completely surrounded by water. Following this you’re faced with the Gem, a spectacular par-4 finishing hole running parallel to the deserted beach and ending in a well guarded raised green. Neither of these holes is particularly pleasant when the monsoon is blowing, but at least you can stop for a break at the drinks area between the 16th and the 17th to build up courage. Here you will find the clubhouse bar, which has fantastic views over the Andaman Sea.

Thai Muang also has 20 attached beachside bungalows that are ideal for unwinding in after a hard day on the green.
